Village of Midlothian Ordinances in .PDF format
With continued gratitude and appreciation to the folks behind WordPress and its technology, I have begun to pull together not just the ordinances listed here, but new ones as well…and they’re all in PDF format! So if you’re looking to store a copy of our ordinances on your hard drive or a disk for future reference, please feel free to download the copies located here.
It is important to note, pursuant to a variety of copyright laws and regulations (although laws themselves cannot be copyrighted), phrases such as “fair use” does not allow for the selling of these documents for profit. You are permitted to recoup reasonable publishing/production costs (i.e. you purchase a pack of 5 CD’s for $2.00, burn 5 copies and sell them to your friends for $1.01) but you are not permitted to charge excessive amounts for such a publishing service ($50 or $100 dollars for a copy, even if a “copy” means it takes 3 or 4 CD’s to produce the entire set, is extremely excessive and unreasonable for many municipalities such as the size of the Village of Midlothian).
So if someone offers to sell you a CD-ROM containing your municipal’s code book, make sure you challenge the charges and refuse to pay any amount except for the physical cost of the CD and the going rate for an individual to spend less than a hour burning the data at a rate no greater than $10.00 to $12.00 an hour. There is no fancy “technical” stuff involved with the burning process and much of the time “spent” on burning a disk involves just staring at a screen until the process is done. I personally try to find other tasks to do while a disk is being burned…

If you have an idea of what keywords will lead you to what you are looking for, please use search bar to the right of the blog.
Here are general starting points for the Village of Midlothian Code. Please select from one of the following:
Title II Commissions and Boards
Title III Departments
Title IV Building Regulations
Title VIII Health and Sanitation
Title IX Public Ways and Property
Since these codes and ordinances have probably changed, you are strongly encouraged to contact Village Hall at 389-0200 to ask what the current law is compared to what you find here.
* This project is meant to assist the community in becoming more familiar with the local laws in the Village of Midlothian, as well as demonstrating the possibilities available with existing technology to perform this kind of a task for all communities across the nation.
