Village Code Project Update
WOW! I never imagined there would be this much interest in our municipal codes when I first outlined the steps I would take to accomplish this still daunting task! I am both humbled and excited about this opportunity for Midlothian, Illinois to set an example for our nation as to how all municipalities can move into a position of leadership when it comes to complying with various transparancy issues without shutting anyone out of the process…especially when it comes to the laws we are being expected to follow. I remain unwavering in my faith our community will not only cure ourselves of this current code book condition, we will continue to leave behind these constructive conversations that are a hallmark of living in a nation that was born from a belief that allowing for freedom of speech is not just the best way…it is the only way.
Therefore, in order to serve you better, I have begun converting what code I do have in text format into .pdf documents which can be downloaded by visiting the document container at http://midlocode.wordpress.com. Right now I only have Title I, Chapter 5 in such a format, but it much easier to review and it has hyperlinks from the Table of Contents leading to the various line items in the Chapter. Also, Chapter 5 is new to the project and currently not available in searchable format here.
I have also moved the status of our code books to the right side bar and the trail of conversations, arguments and corresponding evidence in the left side bar in order to leave the core purpose of this site relatively intact…which is to search for ordinances.
Hopefully over the next few weeks I will be able to have posted at least the ordinances that have been online for almost a year and will keep you posted of any changes.
Thank you for your continued interest in The Village of Midlothian Municipal Code Project!
