Blog Explanation
At this time, the Village Code for Midlothian, Illinois is severely absent from the Internet and is non-existent in paper form for at least all of 2008 and 2009. This needs to change. It has always been my belief that the law cannot be copyrighted, nor can it be restricted in its dissemination of the set of instructions it is intended to represent. It is especially important for any body of citizenship to be familiar with the rules and regulations that guide the mental accounting of those responsible for the management of Official Village Affairs as well as administering authority over a variety of activities that may or may not ever transpire within any town’s boundaries.
Therefore, from time to time I will be updating this site from my own data entry effort, however if you would like to contribute the text of the ordinances in digital format, please feel free to post the text into one of the comments. I will then go ahead and add a few extra tidbits such as linking the footnote references to their actual entry, as well as a few other steps to help those who need access to these laws can find what they are looking for with relative easy and in a user-friendly manner.
Because the binder I have access to appears to have been last updated in 2006 and is over-flowing with additional pages, I encourage you to speak with someone at Village Hall to see if there are any updates or revisions to the Ordinance you are studying. Last I was told, you have to call first and make an appointment so that they can ensure someone is available to sit with you while you review the materials, but even that rule might have changed since I last asked about it a while back.
I just know they are required by Village Ordinance to have at least 3 copies on hand for inspection at any time and they told me they have 12 and the library has one. And it is because the number of law books available for public review are more in favor of City Hall (by the ratio of 12 copies to 1) that I have launched this blog as an extension of The Esoteric Tiger Network, rather than it being enveloped into the rest of the issues I personally am interested in rambling on about from time to time.
Warmest wishes,
Valerie

* These links may be updated from the time of publishing this list. I’ve been told the Village is waiting for a grant to come through so that they can afford the cost of updating the site to something a little more modern and user-friendly, especially those with disabilities.
** Although these sites have general overviews, until the actual ordinances are posted online, it is best to contact the Village to learn of the actual rules and regulations governing these topics.
