10-15-20 Authority of Police and Fire Departments

(A)    It shall be the duty of the officer of the police department or such other authorized officers as are assigned by the Chief of Police to enforce all street traffic and parking regulations of the village and the State of Illinois

(B)    Officers of the police department or such other authorized officers or crossing guards as are assigned or authorized by the Chief of Police are hereby authorized to direct all traffic by voice, hand or signal in conformance with traffic laws or regulations provided that, in the event of a fire or other emergency or to expedite traffic or to safeguard pedestrians, officers of the police department may direct traffic as conditions may require notwithstanding the provisions of the traffic laws or regulations.

(C)    Officers of the Fire Department, when at the scene of a fire, may direct or assist the police in directing traffic at or in the immediate vicinity.  (Ord. 1396, 7-24-1996)

10-15-1 Speed Restrictions

It shall be unlawful to drive any motor vehicle on any street or alley not under the jurisdiction of the State of Ilinois or County of Cook in a residential district within the village at a speed in excess of twenty (20) miles per hour.  The Superintendent of Streets shall post the appropriate signs showing such speed limits.  (Ord. 1396, 7-24-1996)
